Jetts Fitness takes out top ten placement for ‘Best Places to Work in Australia’

  • Written by The Times

As the Great Resignation became the buzzword of 2021, employees looking to make a change well and truly held the upper hand. As a result, companies’ policies, incentives and culture have been put under the microscope.

Research reveals over a third (37%) of Aussie professionals looking for a career change list poor management style or workplace culture as a driving factor. While a quarter (25%) said poor training and development was their main reason for seeking opportunities elsewhere1.

While organisations at risk of losing staff have been driven to rapidly improve workplace culture, Queensland founded franchise group Jetts Fitness have been putting workplace culture first since day one.

After several years ranking in the top #30 and sitting pretty at #13 last year, Jetts Australia has just been recognised and awarded 7th place in this year’s list of Australia’s 2022 Best Places to Work by WRK+.

Elaine Jobson, CEO of Jetts Fitness commented “It was a huge goal of ours to rank in the top #10 and one that we’ve been working towards for the past seven years. To have achieved this national benchmark and be the only fitness group and the only franchise group in the top #10 is a huge testament to the model, culture and people that make up Jetts.”

Mrs Jobson added, “the award was a recognition of the hard work of the whole Jetts Fitness team from our business owners to club managers, PTs to members, our culture is at the heart of what we do, which is to inspire people to live a better life,” she said.

To help determine the Best Places to Work, an engagement survey is sent to all team members and each year Jetts Fitness have seen an improvement to its placements.

Mrs Jobson said whilst the ranking is amazing, what is invaluable is the feedback they receive from their team each year – which flows through to the delivery of their people strategy to ensure they can continue to improve and continue to put people first.

In today’s competitive climate, it’s interesting to note that less than a third (30%) of Aussies are feeling satisfied with their current benefits package2.

I feel that a huge reason as to why our team members love coming to work is that our purpose is not only to inspire our members, but encourage our team to live better, healthier lives as well,” she said.

Perks such as birthdays off, free gym memberships and discounted fitness products certainly help keep our team members happy and motivated, while our Employee Assistance Program (EAP) and Jetts Training Academy (a bespoke Learning Management System) offers a range of courses for professional development and support.

Over the past 15 years, we’ve dedicated our time and energy into being an employer of choice so that we attract and keep the best talent – our culture, the Jetts Way, has always been ingrained in everything we do, and motivated, happy team members is at the core of this.

Investing in our team's health, training, development and mental wellbeing contributes to our positive workplace culture and ultimately, our ongoing recognition as a great place to work,” Mrs Jobson said.
