‘Sounds Like You’ Rom-Com Audiobook Launches Exclusively on Audible

Get ready to fall in love with the captivating new Audible Original, "Sounds Like You," an irresistible rom-com sensation now available exclusively on Audible, a leading producer and provider of audio storytelling. Narrated by dynamic TikTok talent Oliver Mills and Georgia McCudden, in collaboration with Amplify, this delightful offering takes listeners on a whirlwind journey through the modern dating landscape, playfully exploring the allure of voice attraction.

Sounds Like You follows Penny Jane, a university student burnt out from dating and determined to find true love. Putting her engineering degree to the test, Penny creates a new dating app, focusing entirely on audio connections, called WAVES. To bring the app to life, she needs to team up with a fellow student Sebastian, which is when the real adventure begins.

Karen Appathurai-Wiggins, Head of Regional Content for Audible, APAC comments, ‘‘From ghosting and situationships, to break ups, ‘Sounds Like You’ explores the rollercoaster of modern dating, emphasising the importance of forming genuine connections, beyond appearances.

“This launch is particularly special as it’s the first time in Audible Australia’s history that we’ve cast social creators. It has been a great experience, and we are pleased to have further grown our local creator community.”

As it turns out, Aussies are all ears when it comes to love, with new research revealing 46% believe a person’s voice can reveal their personality, and over half (62%) feel a person’s voice can make them more memorable.

When it comes to dating habits, it turns out Australian women send voice notes as soon as they match (25%), while men are more likely to wait until after the first kiss (14%).

Aussies also prefer to date someone with an Australian accent (48%), followed by English (16%), Irish (10%), French (7%), American (6%) and Italian (6%).

Australians voted Matthew McConaughey’s ‘soft and gentle’ voice as their favourite (28%), with the ‘deep and soothing’ tones of Jason Momoa (23%) second, and the playful and energetic voice of Ryan Reynolds in third place (16%).
