Steven Khalil, set to bring international glamour to the PayPal Melbourne Fashion Festival

Australian couturier, Steven Khalil, will present a sixty-look collection for PayPal Melbourne Fashion Festival’s Grand Showcase on Friday 7 March at Royal Exhibition Building, Melbourne. This milestone marks Khalil’s first ever runway presentation in Melbourne.

Each year, the Festival presents the Grand Showcase – the only solo designer show as part of the Premium Runway Series that celebrates one brilliant Australian fashion brand.

Caroline (Ralph) Ralphsmith, CEO of PayPal Melbourne Fashion Festival said: “We can’t wait to see the breathtaking beauty that Steven Khalil will bring to this year’s Grand Showcase for his first ever solo runway show in Melbourne. Our festivalgoers love anything glam - the bigger and sparklier, the better - so the Grand Showcase is a fabulous opportunity for people to experience and appreciate meticulous craftsmanship from a shining light of Australian couture.”

“PayPal Melbourne Fashion Festival’s Grand Showcase has featured Australia’s most acclaimed designers including Maticevski (2020), Carla Zampatti (2019) and Paolo Sebastian (2023), and Steven Khalil is no exception. His international success, red carpet domination and loyal local following, all cultivated over the last 30 years, has cemented his place as an Australian fashion legend.”

This year’s Grand Showcase will feature a curation of gowns from Khalil’s most recent Bridal collection, a preview of looks from his upcoming collection launch at New York Bridal Market in April, alongside a selection of red-carpet couture collections.

Steven Khalil said: “I’m so excited to be presenting my first show in Melbourne to celebrate over 30 years of my business, as part of PayPal Melbourne Fashion Festival. I’ll be showcasing a collection of my favourite archival pieces as well as new, never before seen looks.”

For more than 30 years, Steven Khalil has brought glamour to red carpets and weddings the world over. He is passionate about reviving elements of a classical era of European couture, and is a celebrity go-to for bespoke gowns with his pieces worn by Jennifer Lopez, Emily Ratajkowski, Rita Ora, Priyanka Chopra, Kylie Jenner and Paula Abdul. He’s even crafted multiple Eurovision masterpieces and dressed royalty.

PayPal Melbourne Fashion Festival will take place from 22 February – 8 March 2025. Tickets to the Premium Runways are priced from $69. To view the programme and purchase tickets visit paypal.mff.com.au.
