Over Half of Australians Too Busy to Manage Life Admin

  • Written by The Times

Zoom Video Communications, Inc. (NASDAQ: ZM) today released a survey revealing that over half of Australians are feeling time poor and ‘lack time to do anything for themselves’, causing more than 80% to put off doing ‘life admin’.

According to the Zoom survey conducted by YouGov in October 2022, Australians are seeking flexibility as a means to improve their quality of life and make life admin even simpler.

Our research shows that virtual channels like video communications were not just a COVID band-aid necessity – they are here to stay,” said Michael Chetner, Head of Australia and New Zealand, Zoom. “Consumers want more freedom of choice in how and when they access customer services.”

Nearly two in three (65%) Australians are using online channels including email (39%), online video platforms (35%), live chat (33%) and social media (30%) to access customer service more often now than before the pandemic.

Flexible, virtual access to services across banking, healthcare, education and more is making people’s lives easier, with more than two-thirds (69%) of Australians saying their life is much easier when they can connect with their ‘world’ remotely.

Australians want simple, hyper-personalised access to businesses and services so they can spend less time ticking off their to-do lists and more time connecting with friends, family and doing what makes them happy. Video communications platforms are playing a key part in bringing that simplicity to these exchanges and helping businesses engage with customers in a way that drives trust and loyalty,” added Chetner.

Consumer perceptions of business are also changing. Almost eight in ten (79%) Australians are more likely to remain loyal to an organisation or recommend it to others if they receive personalised customer service and support when and where they need it.

More than two in five Australians (43%) agree that they can now get better customer service and support compared to before the pandemic. It’s clear that Australians want to live flexibly, with over three in five (62%) believing that having the option to access services remotely has enhanced their quality of life.
