Walking experiences across Tasmania
WALK THE CAPES, RIDE A CHOPPER
LIFE’S AN ADVENTURE LAUNCHES TASMAN ISLAND HELI HIKE OPTION
Life’s An Adventure offer a suite of multi-day walking experiences across Tasmania. The company are excited to announce a new addition to their Walk Three Capes three-day itinerary – the opportunity to heli hike on Tasman Island.
Guests have the option to select from three experiences as part of their Tasman Peninsula pack-free adventure; a boat cruise with Pennicott Wilderness Journeys, a 20-minute scenic flight over Cape Pillar and Tasman Island, and now the chance to land and walk atop unique Tasman Island.
“We are thrilled to partner with Rotor-Lift Aviation to offer this once in a lifetime experience as part of our Three Capes adventure,” says Mark Norek, CEO of Life’s An Adventure. “It’s an extraordinary opportunity to walk on an island few have ever had the opportunity to see up close.”
The Tasman Island helicopter landing is available to four guests on each tour. It includes a flight over the dramatic coastline with its dolerite capes, before landing on Tasman Island for a guided tour by Rotor Lift’s knowledgeable pilot. Tasman Island plays host to a bounty of sea birds and seals as well as offering panoramic views of dolphin pods and migrating whales.
The island is part of Tasman National Park and Rotor Life have exclusive permission to touch down on this rare outpost. Limited to just four per group, it’s an intimate opportunity to set foot on the island and hear stories of hardy lighthouse keepers and unique flora. Guests who land on the island then enjoy a direct scenic flight back to Hobart by helicopter, skipping the two-hour bus return. This is followed by complimentary transfers to their desired hotel.
The heli-hike is an exhilarating addition to a pack-free experience that is packed with adventure! It’s the ultimate way to explore Tasmania’s south-east, home to some of the Southern Hemisphere’s highest sea cliffs.
The mud-free guided walk includes venturing out to Cape Raoul and Cape Hauy as well as hiking the Tasman Coastal Track that connects Waterfall Bay and Fortescue Bay. This track leads through lush rainforest and each day guests can carry as little as a water bottle, lunch and their camera.
Come evening, walkers retreat to Stewarts Bay Lodge’s Deluxe Spa Chalets. The all-inclusive experience includes a la carte dining at 1830’s Restaurant On the Bay featuring Tasmanian produce and wine. Each day has shorter or longer trail options to cater for various fitness levels. As with every walking experience offered by Life’s An Adventure, guests can design their own trip which now features the possibility to touch down on Tasman Island as part of their Walk Three Capes journey.
This unique Experience from Hobart (return) is valued at $1095 pp.
