VoltX Energy Powers Up QLD and SA with 10,000 Battery Storage Units to Meet Surging Demand

A leading provider of energy solutions is expanding into the Brisbane and Adelaide markets for the first time, responding to the country’s skyrocketing demand for solar and battery storage.

VoltX Energy has secured a $40M deal with manufacturer Bytewatt to supply 10,000 battery storage units, positioning itself at the forefront of Australia’s renewable energy transformation.

“Queensland and South Australia offer enormous potential for battery adoption. South Australia leads the country when it comes to solar take up with enormous potential for battery adoption as nearly half (44%) of all households in the state are already equipped with solar panels,” said David Sedighi, Voltx Energy Chief Operating Officer.

“While over 60 percent of Queensland households are already equipped with solar panels. Battery storage will be the next frontier with growing awareness among households that solar without a battery system can’t realise its full potential, driving demand for battery systems.”

“There has been an awareness among households on how solar without a battery system can’t realise its full potential and we are already seeing a great surge in demand for battery systems.

“We’re anticipating an eight-fold increase from around 1,500 households per year to over 12,000.”

“This rapid growth mirrors international trends, with countries like Germany seeing more than half a million household battery installations in the last year alone,” added Mr Sedighi.

“Australia is set to follow suit, with industry forecasts predicting up to 160,000 new battery installations nationwide in the next 12 months,” he said.

3.2 million Australian households (32 percent) have rooftop solar panels installed, but just two percent across Australia have a household battery.

That number is expected to drastically spike, as batteries become more affordable and energy companies slug ratepayers and business owners a so-called “sun-tax”.

“We’ve seen strong performance in NSW and we are confident our expansion into Queensland and South Australia will follow the same trajectory.”

“Queensland’s abundant sunshine, coupled with a population eager for energy independence, makes it the ideal location for VoltX Energy’s expansion.”

"Battery storage is essential for Australia’s transition to renewable energy. It allows households to store excess solar power, reducing reliance on the grid and lowering carbon footprints. This is a critical step towards a sustainable future,” Mr Sedighi said.
