GetSashimi Sydney’s first sashimi bar

  • Written by The Times

Get ready, Coogee, because your seafood dreams are about to come true! From the founders of Sydney’s first exclusive Sydney Fish Market seafood delivery service, GetFish, comes their latest venture, GetSashimi – and it’s making waves in the heart of Coogee bringing over 70 varieties of sushi and over 20 varieties of fresh sliced sashimi.

Following the success of Sydney’s first sashimi bar, which opened in Bondi in October last year, GetSashimi is diving into new waters, with its second location opening on September 15th, 2024. This new spot is not just a place to grab a bite; it’s a celebration of the finest and freshest sashimi, delivered with a twist set to turn the traditional fishmonger business on its head.

The new Coogee location spans two levels of seafood heaven and occupies the largest footprint of seafood and fresh sushi and sashimi in the Coogee area with a 10 meter wall to wall sushi and sashimi bar. With 150 square meters accommodating up to 50 dine-in guests, the upstairs area accommodates the ultimate sashimi experience for beachgoers who choose to escape the sun and the sand. Alternatively, the ground floor sashimi bar, which occupies an 80sqm space, is perfect for those looking to grab their sashimi on the go and head to the beach.

GetSashimi prides itself on fresh produce and the presentation, with all sushi and sashimi items on the menu prepared by a talented team of Itamaes, a qualified and skilled sushi and sashimi chef. For made-to-order sashimi cuts, customers can select their filets and watch in awe as the Itamaes artfully prepare each piece with precision and flair. And with no conveyor belt sushi train in sight, this is sashimi and sushi how it was meant to be enjoyed – fresh, personal, and flavoured.

What started in 2018 as a bold idea to bring morning-fresh caught seafood directly into the homes of Sydneysiders, the business has evolved into a seafood empire with 22 vans on the road. With the second brick-and-mortar seafood establishment, GetSashimi is the natural evolution of the seafood sensation, and it’s only the beginning.

“Following the success of Bondi Beach GetSashimi, we had a demand to bring GetSashimi to a new beachside side suburb. Coogee was the inevitable best suburb that appeals to the family-friendly, health-conscious foodie where fresh sushi and sashimi meets the beach ,” Muollo says. “As we continue to grow GetSashimi, we will be opening more stores and are looking towards a rapid expansion plan in early 2025, including the northern beaches suburbs of Sydney.”

To celebrate the grand opening on September 15th, GetSashimi is offering special promotions throughout the day:

11 am-2 pm: Receive a free Melonhead Juice with every GetSashimi purchase over $10.

2 pm-5 pm: Enjoy a surprise present with every GetSashimi purchase over $10

Mark your calendars for September 15th, and join locals and beach visitors alike for the grand opening of GetSashimi Coogee. Whether you’re a sashimi connoisseur or new to the art of raw fish, this is an experience you won’t want to miss. Come for the sashimi, stay for the ambience, and leave with a newfound appreciation for the freshest fish in town, because who doesn’t love sushi and sashimi by the beach?

GetSashimi Coogee is located at 252 Coogee Bay road Coogee, 2035, NSW and is open 7 days from 11am to 9pm.
