Senator Jacqui Lambie launched Ange Harper, the Jacqui Lambie Network’s lead Senate candidate for Queensland, in the upcoming Federal Election.

“Ange and I went through Kapooka together. She’s tough, she’s honest and I know that if she is elected she will work hard for Queensland.

"Ange spent more than a decade serving our Nation in the ADF, most of that time working as an aviation paramedic looking after the health and wellbeing of ADF personnel,” Jacqui Lambie said today.

A devoted Queenslander, Ange Harper is no stranger to politics, having worked as a journalist in the Canberra Press Gallery and as a consultant in corporate affairs across a range of areas. 

“I am passionate about delivering outcomes for Queensland families that will lead to a better quality of life. Things like access to mental health support, lowering youth crime and especially reducing the cost of living burden,” Ms Harper said.

"Serving my community has always been in my blood," Ms Harper said. “It is a great honour to be joining the Jacqui Lambie Network team. I’ve known and respected Jacqui since she and I joined the army on the same day and in the same platoon in 1989.  I am both humbled and proud to be standing here with her today and I hope I can serve my fellow Queenslanders by representing them in the Senate.”




Bio

Ange Harper is a true blue Aussie. Her childhood was spent growing up on a large Australian cattle and sheep property. In 1989, Ange joined the Australian Defence Force and started started her career in the same platoon as Jacqui, the new recruits trained together at Kapooka. A decade in the army followed, where her service included medical evacuations from army helicopters and looking after the health and wellbeing of ADF personnel.

After leaving the ADF, Ange pursued her dream of being a journalist, working with the AAP in the Canberra Press Gallery, and later as AAP Deputy Bureau Chief, National Technology Correspondent and State Finance Correspondent in Brisbane. Ange then moved into the private sector working as a consultant, with clients across a wide range of industries.

Ange has never lost her passion for supporting the veteran community, she is a Soldier On Ambassador and mentor, and actively supports the local RSL whenever she can. Her experience as an advocate for veterans has fired her determination to see the work and the recommendations of the Royal Commission into Veteran Suicide fully implemented.
