Thredbo has released its line-up for the July Kids Snow Festival

  • Written by Eleanor Gilkes

Thredbo has released its line-up for the July Kids Snow Festival and it is jam-packed with fun for the whole family. From a mountain of terrain to explore, a huge line up of free activities and plenty of après for mum and dad, there is a reason Thredbo has been voted Best Ski Resort for Families at the Best Family Ski Resort Awards by Ski & Snowboard with Kids for three consecutive years; there is truly something for every member of the family.

Torah Bright Mini Shred

The crowd favourite Torah Bright Mini Shred event at Thredbo is back for the 2021 season. This annual event will be held on Sunday 11 July 2021.

Junior intermediate skiers and snowboarders can spend the day riding with some of Australia's biggest snow stars. Torah Bright will be joined by Thredbo Ambassadors Jarryd Hughes, Tess Coady, Valentino Guseli, Ben Tudhope, Josie Baff, Abi Harrigan and local legends, Joey Ellis, Arkie Ellis and Jye Kearney.

These big names will be on hand to coach the new generation of shredders through a purpose-built, dedicated mini terrain park giving under eighteens the chance to ride with their friends, pick up tips from the industry's best and progress in a super fun environment.

Speaking of the event Torah states “The mini shred is all about having the best day ever! Making new friends, learning new things, and building belief in ones self! Our line up of local legends and Olympians are amazing at sharing their skills and inspiring the next generation of skiers and snowboarders.”

Off the slopes, there is still a stack of activities to keep the kids entertained. A sausage sizzle will keep little and big bellies filled while a DJ will have music echoing across the mountain. Roxy is back with a tonne of giveaways and prizes which is expecting to see smiles for miles. The event wraps up with a huge signing session with all the pros.

Alongside the Torah Bright Mini Shred, is a two-week long list of events with everything from free Kids Pizza Movie Nights, Alpine Bungee, Giant Games and Family Fun Nights.

Thursday Family Fun Nights

Thredboland Animals are out to play on Thursdays! Family Fun Nights provide guests with an afternoon of music, dancing, games and prizes; not complete without a vibrant parade of Thredboland Animals. During the evening, families can enjoy a glittering firework display while kids can ski and snowboard down Friday Flat after the sun goes down holding twinkling LED flares for the iconic Thredbo Kids Flare Run, gracing the Thredbo slopes for more than 30 years.

Held Thursdays 24 June – 8 July 2021 at Friday Flat.

Friday Flat S'mores

Guests can roast gooey smore's at the Friday Flat fire pits. This North American mountain treat has been given a twist with Lindt Chocolate providing a spin on the classic marshmallow, cookie and chocolate winter delicacy. It's the sweetest way to end a day of family turns at Australia's Best Ski Resort.

Held daily during the holidays from 3:00PM to 5:00PM at the Thredbo Friday Flat fire pits.

Kids Pizza Movie Night

Supervised by professional Thredbo staff, the Kids Pizza Movie Night is an evening all about the littlies. Kids aged 4 – 13 years can enjoy dinner and a movie following a day on the slopes. Held below the cosy Lounge Bar, it's the ideal place to drop the kids before the grown-ups head upstairs for a quick après.

Held Mondays and Wednesdays 28 June – 7 July 2021 at the Lounge Bar and Townsend Room in the Thredbo Alpine Hotel. Registration required.

Alpine Bungee

Take a break from the slopes and let the family soar! New for 2021, Alpine Bungee in Thredbo has guests bouncing, spinning and flipping in Australia's premier year-round adventure destination.

Alpine Bungee will be available daily from 11:00AM to 6:00PM under the Merritts Gondola Base Station. $15.00 per 10 min bungee.

Giant Games

Bringing games to the mountains in a big way. Thredbo has placed giant family-classics including Connect Four, Jenga and Noughts & Crosses outside at the base of Friday Flat. It is sure to have guests laughing over some spirited family competition in the alpine air.

10:00AM to 4:00PM from 25 June to 11 July 2021. Outside Friday Flat Bistro.

The family entertainment doesn't stop when the holidays finish either. Whether you're a family of first-timers or dedicated snow enthusiasts, Thredbo Resort boasts a huge amount of snow terrain for all ages and abilities, a range of expert-led lessons and programs to help families to get their snow feet, plus Australia's biggest and best winter events calendar.
