Leader of The Nationals David Littleproud re-elected

  • Written by The Times

The Leader of The Nationals, David Littleproud, was re-elected as leader of the National Party today. Following confirmation of his position, he issued the following statement.

"It is an enormous honour to be elected as Leader of The Nationals by my colleagues in today’s party room meeting.

I am humbled to serve my Party and my colleagues, but most importantly, the people of Australia.

Around the country, families are still facing the same cost-of-living challenges and it is a privilege to be elected as Leader and have the opportunity to make real change.

I am proud of my legacy as Leader over the last three years, championing the opposition to the Voice, and fighting for nuclear energy and supermarket divestiture powers.

The Nationals also returned all of our House of Representatives Members in this election.

I congratulate new Deputy Leader Kevin Hogan and The Nationals’ Leader in the Senate Bridget McKenzie.

Both Kevin and Bridget are not just great leaders, but great friends, and I am proud to be able to work with them.

I also acknowledge Senator Perin Davey and her work as Deputy Leader last term.

I thank those who voted for The Nationals at this past election and our volunteers, members and candidates.

I give you a commitment to work hard and continue to take common sense to Canberra."
