5 Signs It Is Time To Remove A Tree

  • Written by: The Times

Removing a tree from your property is never an easy decision. There are high costs, time commitment and the loss of shade/privacy the tree offers.

Sometimes, however, there are instances where it is unavoidable. Some of these examples are discussed below;

The Tree Is Unhealthy Or It Has Been Damaged

Trees can become diseased or damaged from harsh weather, such as high winds or lightning storms. If a tree is in this condition, it can be a hazard to its surroundings as the weakened branches may fall and cause harm.

A qualified Arborist will be able to advise on the condition of a tree and whether it has to be removed.

The Tree's Root System Has Been Damaged

The root system of a tree is essential for the tree to grow and thrive. If this has been damaged due to construction work, improper soil compaction or an influx of water, the tree may become unstable.

The Tree Trunk Is Showing Signs Of Cracking Or Is Cracked

Cracks in a tree trunk can weaken the stability of the tree and make it more susceptible to falling over. If these cracks are visible, it is time to remove the tree.

You can perform your own inspections for cracks periodically. If you see signs of weakness you can get a professional opinion from a trained and experienced Arborist.

New Sprouts From The Tree Is Growing Near Ground Level

If the tree is producing new sprouts near ground level, this could be a sign of root rot or damage. If your tree is doing this it is a telltale sign of things to come. What the tree is doing is essentially abandoning the majority of itself so that it can concentrate on a new beginning.

The Tree Is Growing Too Close To Buildings On The Property

If a tree is grown too close to buildings, it can cause damage to the building over time as the roots and branches become larger. This can be incredibly dangerous if the tree is in an area of heavy foot traffic or near areas where people regularly congregate.

It is important to remove any trees that are growing too close for comfort. This will ensure the safety of any people on the property, as well as protect your buildings from future damage.

Removing a tree is never an easy decision. However, if your tree is exhibiting any of the signs listed above, it may be time to call a professional.

There are so many reasons that you will want to remove a tree from your property. Although it is a shame to remove these grand structures of nature, there are also a lot of benefits too.

You can speak with your local council about the rules and regulations that govern your property. Make sure you get the appropriate council permission to avoid penalties.
