UNIQLO Opens its First-Ever Store in Canberra

  • Written by The Times

Japanese global apparel retailer, UNIQLO,  will celebrate the opening of its first-ever store in the Australian Capital Territory,  and is set to open its doors in the coming weeks at Canberra Centre – a shopping  mecca loved by locals and visitors alike.

The new Canberra Centre UNIQLO store spans more than 1210 square metres and will offer  a full line-up of LifeWear apparel for men, women, kids and babies, the latest 23  Spring/Summer range, a space committed to the UNIQLO graphic T-shirt brand “UT” which  is a collection of graphic tees dedicated to celebrating pop culture, key moments or icons  across the globe, 12 fitting rooms, and 6 self-check-out machines which adopt an advanced  scanning technology to deliver a convenient shopping experience for our customers.

Commenting on the announcement, Fuminori Adachi, CEO of UNIQLO Australia said “We  know that all great things take time, and after receiving many requests and support from the  community, we are so pleased to share that we are finally opening a store in the Canberra  Centre.”

“The UNIQLO Canberra store team has done a great job in getting the store ready and looking  beautiful for our customers, and we know that they are looking forward to providing great  customer service, introducing locals to our LifeWear philosophy and enabling everyone in the  family to experience the joy, happiness and satisfaction of wearing high-quality clothes at  such a great price point.”

Canberra Centre General Manager, Gary Stewart also commented on the announcement.  “We are thrilled to be welcoming the ACT’s first UNIQLO store to Canberra Centre. The  introduction of this much awaited global retailer is already generating great excitement  amongst our local community and represents another landmark in Canberra Centre’s  ongoing evolution.”

As part of the store opening celebrations and to continue UNIQLO’s mission of enriching  people’s lives through unique corporate activities, the Canberra Centre team will also be  providing local charity, Roundabout Canberra, with gently used clothing collected through  the store’s Re.UNIQLO donation point. All donations will go towards families in need in the  Canberra region to ensure that every family has a safe start with dignity.

UNIQLO Canberra Centre store will open to customers from 10:00am on Thursday 26  October, followed by an official ribbon cutting ceremony and a Japanese taiko drumming  performance as a nod to UNIQLO’s heritage. To add to the opening day celebrations, UNIQLO  will provide cake pops, as well as a free gift bag to the first 200 customers who spend $100  or more. There will also be other exclusive opening offers for customers to enjoy to celebrate  the Canberra New Store Opening.

The new store will be the 34th store in Australia, will welcome 66 new team members, two existing team members transferring, and represents UIQLO’s focus on growth in the country.

UNIQLO Canberra Centre is located at Store B08, Ainslie Mall, Ground Level, Bunda Street,  Canberra 2608. Customers are encouraged to visit the UNIQLO Australia website  www.uniqlo.com.au for further store details once the store opens for trading.
