Top Sydney Chefs Debut at Hamilton Island Race Week

  • Written by: The Times

Esteemed Sydney chefs Trisha Greentree, Danielle Alvarez and winemaker Larry Cherubino are making their Hamilton Island debut with beachside culinary and wine experiences at the 39th famous annual offshore sailing regatta.

Hamilton Island Race Week is running 17-24 August, and there’s a flurry of on-shore experiences for non-sailors too. Highlights of this year’s social calendar include:

Monday 19 August – Kick off your shoes for a beachside food and wine experience with chef Danielle Alvarez and winemaker Larry Cherubino on palm-fringed Catseye Beach. The visionary force behind Sydney institution Fred’s will serve up a four-course farm-to-table dinner paired with fine wines curated by internationally awarded winemaker Larry Cherubino under his own and Robert Oatley labels. The Robert Oatley Pennant Cabernet that recently won the International Wine Challenge world’s best Cabernet trophy is among the fine selection.

Tuesday 20 August – Fiesta! at Casamigos Tequila’s ‘House of Friends’. Back by popular demand, start the evening with a Casamigos margarita before diving into a shared feast bursting with the flavours of Mexico.

Thursday 22 August – Celebrated guest chef Trisha Greentree (Mr Wong’s and Fratelli Paradiso) will take over the coca chu kitchen for an unforgettable Asian-inspired wine-paired menu that emphasises, simplicity, seasonality, and creativity.

Friday 23 AugustLong Lunch by the Sea at Catseye Beach is a Race Week tradition. The sumptuous dining experience is accompanied by Piper-Heidsieck Champagne on arrival and a selection of wines.

All week, be you a sailor or landlubber, you can feel part of the saltwater action from onboard Quantum, the luxurious 120ft super yacht that takes guests to the course twice daily for a front row seat at Australia’s premier offshore keelboat regatta.

Non-ticketed events include Eat Street and live entertainment each evening on Front Street, with a fantastic lineup of complimentary acts including Duke, Trent Bell, Tuxedo Riot, Classic Oz, and more. You don’t have to be a sailor to be part of the action.
