Grill'd Is Donating $90,000 to My Room Children’s Cancer Charity in Partnership With Oscar Piastri

Children cancer charity in partnership with Oscar Piastri

For those fighting childhood cancer, and for the families standing beside them, every day carries a weight most of us will never know. This June, Grill'd is donating $90,000 through its Local Matters program to My Room Children's Cancer Charity. This donation will go towards providing family support, funding essential clinical care, and supporting life-changing research for children impacted by childhood cancer across Australia.

This partnership is in collaboration with Australian F1 driver Oscar Piastri. The Grill’d ambassador of two years first connected with My Room in 2025 after meeting Kruz, a young patient who battled a rare form of Leukaemia at the Melbourne Grand Prix. After signing Kruz's replica helmet, Piastri later auctioned his own race-worn helmet, raising $107,000 for My Room and becoming their official ambassador. Inspired by the partnership, his mother, Nicole, has also gotten involved to support the charity, noting "It's such an honour to be part of the My Room Children's Cancer Charity and all that they do.”

This support for My Room now extends through Piastri’s partnership with Grill'd, and the takeover of every Local Matters jar in 178 Grill’d restaurants across the country this month.

This June, any guest who purchases a burger at a Grill’d restaurant can drop a token into a My Room Local Matters jar in a show of support. At the end of the month, Grill’d will donate a total of $90,000 to My Room, supporting three core initiatives: family support, clinical care and research and trials.

Grill’d is proud to be using its platform to connect its community and the wider Australian population to My Room. Simon Crowe, Managing Director and Founder of Grill’d said “Local Matters has always been about giving back to local communities across the country and we’re proud to have donated over $7 million to tens of thousands of local community groups since 2011. Childhood cancer impacts families right across Australia and we are hoping to raise awareness of the extraordinary work My Room does for these kids and families who rely on their support every day. This partnership is about supporting My Room and this incredible cause, and we’re honoured to play a small part in that.”

Margaret Zita OAM, CEO of My Room Children's Cancer Charity said “For more than 33 years, My Room Children’s Cancer Charity has been there for families when life changes in an instant, from the moment their child is diagnosed and throughout every stage of the journey that follows. Through this partnership with Grill’d, we have the opportunity to reach more families, raise greater awareness, and help ensure more children and young adults receive the care, support, and access to research they need. We are incredibly grateful to Grill’d for getting behind My Room, and to every customer who chooses to show their support for us this June. It may seem like a small token, but together those tokens are an act of support that helps us change lives."

This June, My Room will be featured across all Grill'd restaurants nationally. Proudly supporting families when it matters most, visit your local Grill'd, grab a burger and drop your token into a My Room jar to show your support.
