2023 South Australian Business Index

SANTOS REVEALED AS NUMBER ONE IN INDAILY'S BUSINESS INDEX

Santos has again topped the list of InDaily’s South Australian Business Index, an annual review  of the top private and public companies in the state.

In its ninth year, InDaily’s independent ranking of the state’s top 100 companies by market  capitalisation and revenue covers the 2022-2023 financial year.

Compiled for InDaily by Adelaide leading financial services group Taylor Collison, the Index is  essentially a guide to conducting business in South Australia and uncovers important industry  and employment trends.

Rounding out the top three were Argo Investments in second, and Peregrine in third.

As well as ranking number one on the list, Santos was one of four award recipients, taking out  the Standout Large Employer, with a team of 3790 staff members.

Other award recipients were Chrysos Limited for Revenue Growth, which reported an +89%  growth on FY22.

Rising Star was awarded to mining company Hillgrove Resources, and Best New Entrant was  given to space company Fleet Space Technologies which aims to connect Earth, Moon and  Mars.

Winners were announced at an awards lunch at the Adelaide Convention Centre today, October  20, where business leaders learned how the make-up of the Index has changed over the last 12  months and what that indicates about the economic future.

“It’s been really great to see this year a number of the private businesses are continuing to  stand up. We’ve got 11 of the top 20 that are actually private companies, a number of them  founded and still family-owned in SA. What’s really pleasing to see is the resilience of the South  Australian economy as well,” Taylor Collison Head of Corporate Access, Campbell Rawson said.

“Oil and gas dominate and make up 42 per cent of the index and 36 per cent is actually just  Santos alone. Construction and engineering have been very strong yet again and there’s a lot of  demand for warehousing space as we see a number of industrial projects go up,” he concluded.
