Australian Companies Boost Design Investments by 63%
The data reveals that 63% of Australian companies have increased investment in digital design tools over the past five years, significantly outpacing the APAC average increase of 46%.
The data, which draw on interviews and information from Figma's extensive user base, highlight areas where Australia stands out regionally and globally.
In the government sector, design tool usage in Australia is over 4.5 times higher than the global average, reflecting the focus on digital transformation in public services. Similarly, in the finance sector, adoption rates are 30% higher than international benchmarks.
The findings also reveal a growing trend in cross-functional collaboration, with two-thirds of weekly design tool users in Australia being non-designers, such as marketers, product managers, and developers. This suggests a broader integration of design thinking across different business functions.
Additional key insights from the “Design: APAC's Growth Engine” survey include:
-
While 64% of Australian respondents rate designer-developer collaboration as effective, 32% see room for improvement.
-
38% of Australian businesses have adopted cloud-based design tools.
-
Nearly two-thirds of companies using cloud-based tools report gaining a competitive edge through early adoption.
-
54% of APAC businesses using cloud-based tools attribute increased sales and revenue to improved digital experiences, compared to only 29% among non-adopters.
-
41% of businesses using cloud-based tools report quicker time-to-market, nearly double the 22% of non-adopters.
This data underscores Australia's growing leadership in leveraging design tools and collaboration to drive innovation and business growth across key sectors.
