Learn Everything You Need About Organic Marketing

  • Written by: The Times

Organic marketing is the term used for all of the marketing activities you can do that don’t require you to pay in an advertised manner. Organic marketing isn’t as straightforward as some paid channels so there’s a case for opting to use a digital marketing agency in Sydney to help you grow an audience in the long-term.

How About Organic Marketing vs Paid Marketing?

When you use organic marketing, you don’t need to use third party platforms to generate views. This doesn’t mean you won’t need to pay for anything, but the things you need to pay for come down significantly.

Paid marketing is all about boosting exposure overall, where organic marketing forges connections with your audience in the long-term. Paid marketing happens immediately for a price, where organic marketing is cheaper but slower. Which one you use will depend entirely on your needs.

How About Organic vs Content Marketing?

Content marketing has a lot of similarities to organic marketing as content is the main driving force. The only difference is that content marketers will often use paid channels to promote content, meaning about 80% of the process is organic. This can be a great middle ground if you need a little paid help along the way.

The Most Common Ways to Do Organic Marketing

  1. SEO (Search Engine Optimisation)

SEO is vital to help businesses of all types grow. Your business appearing on Google search results for the right key phrases can bring a lot of steady, targeted traffic to your blog posts, landing pages and product pages. Without paying for placements, you can use SEO to grow your business, but it does take a lot of effort. You need to have the right tools to conduct keyword research, score them for competitiveness, so choose the right ones and place them correctly within your content.

  1. Organic Social Media Marketing

Most marketers engage in some form of social media marketing, and although you may think they’re all using paid ads to boost certain posts, the reality is that some brands don’t need to do this. By using tactics such as hashtags, free giveaways and shared posts you can easily build a following overtime, but again you will need to take some effort. This means having a social media calendar, and sticking to it.

  1. Lead Magnet Oriented Content

Lead magnets are a great way to turn people who you’re reaching from one avenue to make a purchase. For example, you can turn your blog readers or social media followers into leads. This then makes them part of your marketing to sales funnel.

In order to do this you can do things such as eBooks, checklists and video courses to name a few.

  1. Email Marketing

Another great organic channel is email marketing. This is when you take the information of people who have subscribed or made an account and you create email marketing content to keep them interested and let them know what’s going on. Some people do this with email newsletters, others do more casual photographic content, it’s totally up to you and your business style.

  1. Live Events and Webinars

One great thing you can do is conduct live events to boost your brand's expertise and they can be a great way to meet new people. Thankfully you don’t have to do all your events in person, you can also conduct webinars or online events as well. For this avenue to work you need to present something interesting such as speakers you know, or content you’re presenting that’s new.

  1. Podcasts & Other Content

Podcasts are a great form of organic marketing as they can make multiple things happen at once. You can make quality content, let people know you better and spread the word about your brand and expertise while you’re at it. Just remember, the better quality your podcast is, the better.
